Question 1

Will I be playing against Autodarts X owners, or a separate pool?

Accepted Answer

The same pool. Autodarts X and a kit from us both run the Autodarts platform, on the same accounts, with the same online matchmaking, the same tournaments and the same statistics. There is one player base, not one per manufacturer — when someone with an Autodarts X plays you online, the platform sees two boards reporting scores, and neither of you can see what the other is throwing at. Autodarts' own app lists custom setups alongside Autodarts X as a supported hardware path (checked 5 October 2026).

Question 2

How is this different from Winmau’s Autodarts X?

Accepted Answer

Autodarts X is Winmau’s own £449 system — four cameras and the lighting built into one clamp-on unit, no separate computer, fitted in minutes, on pre-order with dispatch quoted from 20 October 2026. Ours is a kit of proven parts that we configure and bench-test on a real board before it ships, for £299.98. Both run the same free Autodarts platform, the same online matchmaking and the same statistics. Theirs is tidier and comes from a household name; ours is £149 less, goes out in 3–5 working days and carries the same two-year warranty. Our Autodarts X comparison page has the full side-by-side with every figure sourced.

Question 3

Do I need anything else to play?

Accepted Answer

A dartboard, a screen, somewhere to mount the cameras and a network connection. The screen is the one people are surprised by: the mini PC has no display of its own, so it plugs into any TV or monitor with an HDMI socket — an old telly on the wall is the usual answer, and our touchscreen is the tidy optional one. Buy the mini PC and a camera kit and everything else is in the box. You will also need a free Autodarts account, and the software itself costs nothing.

Question 4

Which camera kit should I pick?

Accepted Answer

If you do not already own a lighting ring, pick the Light Ring, Mounts & Cameras Bundle — it is the only one that includes a ring. If you already own a Mission Torus 270, a Winmau light ring, or a stand-mounted Target Corona, pick the mounts cut for it and keep your lighting.

Question 5

Can I use my own computer instead of buying the mini PC?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Autodarts runs on Windows, Mac, Linux and Raspberry Pi, so if you already have a machine you can leave near the board, buy the camera kit on its own. The mini PC exists because “use your own computer” is the step most people get stuck on.

Question 6

How does the mates rates discount work?

Accepted Answer

Order 2 complete kits in one go and 10% comes off them; 3 or more and it is 15%. A complete kit means a mini PC plus a camera kit — either the bundle with the light ring, or a set of mounts if you already own one. It applies automatically, there is no code to enter, and you will see it on the payment page before you pay.

Question 7

Is there a subscription?

Accepted Answer

No. Online matches, matchmaking, game modes, statistics and entry to the online tournaments are all free on Autodarts, and we charge nothing ongoing — you pay us once for the hardware. Autodarts Plus, at £5.99 a month or £59.99 a year, is entirely optional: it adds an AI referee, advanced statistics, custom darts, two extra game modes and the ability to create your own tournaments. We do not get a penny of it either way.

Question 8

Are you the official Autodarts shop?

Accepted Answer

No, and we say so everywhere: we are an independent retailer of compatible hardware. Autodarts is an open-source project with its own official hardware at autodarts.com. What we add is the pre-configured computer, mounts printed for the ring you already own, UK delivery and a free human setup call.

Question 9

What does the free remote setup actually include?

Accepted Answer

A 30-minute video call at a time that suits you, where we go through mounting the cameras, calibrating the board and getting your first game running. After that you can email us and a person will reply.

Question 10

How long does delivery take, and what does it cost?

Accepted Answer

UK mainland delivery is free and included in the price. Each unit is built and tested to order and ships in 3–5 working days, tracked — your confirmation email will tell you where your order is up to.

Question 11

Can I return it?

Accepted Answer

Yes. As a UK consumer buying at distance you have 14 days from delivery to change your mind and cancel, and you do not need a reason. Email us and we will talk you through returning it. This is in addition to your normal rights if something arrives faulty.

Question 12

Is there a warranty?

Accepted Answer

Yes — 24 months from delivery, the same term Winmau gives on Autodarts X. It covers the components we supply and the work we do: the mini PC, the cameras and their cabling, the light ring, our printed mounts, and our own build and configuration. If one of those fails, email us and we will repair it, replace the part or refund you, with postage paid both ways. It does not cover accidental damage, liquid, or hardware modified or repaired by someone else, and it is in addition to your Consumer Rights Act 2015 rights rather than instead of them.

Question 13

What if I break something myself?

Accepted Answer

Broken something yourself? That is not a warranty claim — no warranty on any autoscoring system covers accidental damage. But because the kit is separate parts rather than one sealed unit, you replace the broken part and nothing else: email us and we will sell you a spare mount, arm or camera at what it costs us, plus postage. A stray dart into a camera or a mount is the obvious example, and it is worth being straight about it: that is accidental damage on any system, including the sealed first-party ones. The difference with a kit is that one broken part is one part.

Question 14

Do you ship outside the UK?

Accepted Answer

Yes — the Mini PC, the Light Ring Bundle and the camera mount kits go to the EU (£29.99 per parcel) and the USA (£44.99 per parcel), tracked, usually 3–7 working days after dispatch. Choose where it is going in the basket. Import duty and VAT, if your country charges them, are paid by you on delivery. The touchscreen, and the Complete Setup that includes it, are UK delivery only for now.
